London Fashion Week and Men's day has been and gone, we were dashing around various locations around London for two days! I can't believe it has flown by so quickly. Seriously Mens day should be two days at least to really enjoy and take in everything properly.
Nevertheless, we really enjoyed what we saw and experienced. As a blog this was S.S.A first proper scheduled fashion week with press passes. It was a delight to see all the stylish and expressive looks throughout the day.
S.S.A would like to say thank all the designers (you know who you are) that invited us to shows and presentations around various locations in London . To our readers I hope you will enjoy the small insight into Menswear day showcasing S/S12 collections as much as myself and Alex did.

As you know so much happens on menswear day. Here are a selection of designers and looks we found interesting for next season. By all means take inspiration from the designers collections, I believe staying true and original and adding your personal signature to your look.
WHAT WE LIKED
Next season is all about colour prints and accessories. clash or add one element of print be creative inject some fun into your wardrobe. We liked how the Topman Design show brought this to our attention.
Elements of the collection seemed to be "inspired" by higher end designers, however for the great cost factor and details, Topmans a winner. Key pieces included the double breasted blazer jacket, patent leater shoes and above the knee shorts. Keep your eye on those juicy warm Morocccan colour pallets too. What do you think about the man clutches? It's a miss in our opinion we weren't so sure about accessory.
If you don't already know I'm a huge fan of Christopher Shannon. I love the fact that his silhouette embraces street/sportswear culture but he transforms this into a modern expressive way, for SS12 collection Shannon, incorporates using experimental hi-tech fabrics and prints in a confident experimental way.
A Little styling tip to consider, keep your top button done up also think about sheer tops over patchwork shirts for interest adding sporty with cool tailoring for example a tailored trouser.
Keeping all things street the idea of the Afro comb being recycled as creative accessories was inventive although this trend won't take off yet idea and thought brought a smile to my face.
Super tailoring could be seen from Oliver Spencer, Mr Start and Hardy Aimes. We all know that nothing looks better than a well cut suit for sure it's a staple for every mans wardrobe.
Strong SS12 looks came from Mr Start and Hardy Aimes, sleek sharp modern tailoring stood out we liked how teaming a suit with a classic sports trainer (Mr Start) or adding a short for the summer months (Hardy Aimes)kept the over all look stylishy cool. Take a look closer the neckerchief and pocket squares are here to stay for next season. This is a great way to express yourself with a little dash of colour or pattern if your not that confident with full pattern or bold colours.
Martine Rose for MAN always brings so much youth and energy with her collections this always comes across. A favourite of ours was the striped and over sized sheer shirts. The key is adding that slight interest and mixing things up a little having the idea of embellished detachable boot cuffs, trinkets and friendship bracelets added on to CAT boots in collaboration with Australian accessories label -Icon Brand was different.
WE SAW & LIKED
Somerset House is a grand and beautiful period building with winding stair cases and endless rooms. Finding the designer Serdar Uzuntas collection was indeed a discovery it was so well constructed and dapper the presentation was engaging.
Serdar Uzuntas and his team talked us through the collection, which based on five 'English Public Schoolboys' travel to Istanbul and become absorbed and influenced by the culture there.
Arriving in Istanbul looking very 'Eatonian with straw boaters with flowers in the hatband, schoolboy shoes, cignet ring etc. The Eatonian's later evolve into 'Sultan Princes'. The whole space reflected the connection between the public school boy and the adventure in Istanbul.
Jackets were beautifully tailored the collection was styled in way that the models looked like modern and young dandies we fell for the strong Turkish inspired accessories that balanced the collection they were deffinate eye openers accessories can add that extra something to a borring garment.
Moving into another room we came across designers Baartmans And Siegel. Who brought together a strong collection of refined suits slim fit pure and lined suits designed for the modern man. The suede brogues Breton striped cable-knit sweaters and the artwork surrounding the collection caught our eyes it was excellent.
The next post will be part two.
